80's Pearl Basketweave Earrings

These earrings are a rare find, and a jewelry-wardrobe essential for any collector. (What could be more wearable than gold and pearl?) Attributed to famed Parisian jeweler Jacky de G, these earrings were made in France in the 1980s. French jewelry of the 1980s was influenced by the runways of the big couturiers in a way we no longer see; the best jewelers worked for the big houses like Jean-Paul Gaultier, Laroche, Givenchy, Dior, Chanel, Lacroix and among them was the jewelry known as Jacky de G. She produced jewelry for her own label (which was signed as such) and also for these houses, as is this case for this pair- they were most likely produced for Givenchy (signed J2G). This jewelry was only produced for a short period in the 1980s, which makes it highly sought-after and collectable. These were originally the property of a Parisian collector, who had an unrivaled, incredibly eclectic collection of designer jewelry that would make any of us swoon. These earrings are a buttery matte gold, with sixteen pearlescent beads on the earring's face in an intricate basketweave texture. They are finished with a clip-on back and measure 1 1/8" in diameter.

Great vintage condition. There is some wear to the BACK of the earring (not visible when worn) but the face of the earring is pristine.
