Description: 1980s Pierre Cardin minimalist Black & Navy Stripe Dress. The Box Cut, step-in style of this dress is boldly engineered with inset dolman sleeves, Bias-cut Handkerchief Neck and snaps & button fasteners a-symmetrically down the left side of the bust. Fabric – a woven yarn dyed stripe, Fabric origin India. Looks/Feels like Linen blend with cotton. Has natural linen character in the cloth. Rich color saturation in Black and Navy 1” stripes.

From the master of whimsical minimalism Pierre Cardin this dress is from the early 1980s, the middle of the designer’s career. Born in Italy of French parents on 2 July 1922, the designer is known for his acute intuition, which often made him a trendsetter and design leader. Monsieur Cardin was one of the first designers to experiment with distorting a woman’s curves by accentuating shoulders and hips, sharp angles at the waist. In this case he ignores the female form altogether. The collector will likely find this dress to be a great wearable signature of one of the past century's most forward-thinking designers.
