80's Multicolor Tweed Jacket$161.00
Emil Rutenberg is known for his jackets, and his impeccable tailoring, and this 80's jacket is an excellent example. The cheerful multi-color bouclé immediately reminded me of a vintage Chanel jacket, but Rutenberg himself deserves just as much recognition in this category. The Johannesburg native founded his line in 1983 and was immediately recognized by retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman for his masterful craftsmanship that rivaled the European labels (memorialized in this May 1990 New York Times article).
This jacket features that same exquisite tailoring, with a single button closure and long notched lapels emphasizing the waist and lengthening the body. I love how it's not too fitted, yet doesn't swallow you up — perfect for a petite frame! There is a pocket on either side at the front. Made in the USA of a wool blend, and fully lined on the interior.
Measurements: (Marked size XS, will best fit a modern size S or XS in my opinion. Please refer to exact measurements below.)
Shoulders: 17"
Chest: 38"
Waist: 35"
Sleeves: 22. 5"
Length: 30. 5"
Great vintage condition. I believe this piece was never worn, as one of the pockets is still completely stitched up.
