For his Spring-Summer 1988 collection, Yves Saint Laurent paid tribute to various artists including Van Gogh, Picasso and Georges Braque. This fabulous and super-rare vintage necklace is an homage to Braque, known mostly for his cubist works, and whose later art featured minimalist style birds (a sample of which can be seen on the ceiling of Salle Henri II at the Louvre in Paris, see last image). Made from textured gold metal, this oversized necklace features three birds, each ranging in size from 3in to 4in long, and the chain fastens with a loop and bar. Each bird is stamped YSL. It measures a total length of approximately 24in end-to-end, and the bird section measures about 10in L. Preowned/vintage with signs of use and prior wear: some scratching and loss to the gold metal in places, hard to see when wearing but evident if inspecting closely. Note that this piece originally had another chain and single bird at the center, now missing.
