This fabulous French ball gown from Bernard Perris features layer upon layer of pink taffeta and black tulle. The skirt comprises three layers of fine black tulle, a layer of fuschia pink taffeta, a stiff tulle petticoat, and a bottom layer of black silk taffeta (the bodice is also lined in black taffeta). The dress has a densely ruched bodice and midriff with a dropped waist. There is flexible boning in the bodice and foam in the cups. After we acquired this dress, we discovered a rip in the top layer of tulle on the left side of the skirt. We eventually figured out that the best way to fix it was to just cut it out, because there are two layers of tulle underneath that would make the missing piece fairly undetectible. (We have included a photo of the side of the dress with the missing section.) After a fair amount of research, we are estimating that the gown is from the early 1980s. Although the dress should fit snugly, it is still very small, especially in the bust (hence the zipper is partially down on out manneqin), so it's particularly important use the measurements for the best quidance regarding actual size.
