The designer Diane Freis is best known for creating feminine, comfortable dresses in gorgeous, colorful print fabrics. This 2-piece dress set consists of a sweater-knit top and tiered skirt, each made of several different patterned fabrics, as was often the case with her designs. The blouson-fit sweater has large shoulder pads, and dolman sleeves. The body of the sweater is made of black, blue, and red stripe, medium-weight acrylic knit, and the sleeves are 2 different patterns of printed, lightweight silk crepe. Appliqués of a third silk fabric trim the right side of the sweater. The fitted cuffs and dropped waistband of the sweater are made of a rainbow-striped rayon and acrylic blend. The v-neckline has the Freis-signature narrow fabric ties trimmed with plastic beads. The 100% silk skirt combines all 3 of the silk prints in tiers that flare out gradually from the elastic waist to hem. The sweater top and skirt both pull on, with no zipper or other fastenings except the neckline ties. The original waistband of the skirt has been replaced with a wide band of black elastic—perhaps the stretch was gone from the original, and this was the solution? It is not seen when worn, but worth noting. This fun Diane Freis 80s dress 2-piece dress is in very good to excellent condition, with no other issues.
