This 1980s gown by Mike Benet is fantastic! It's made of a heavy royal blue satin and embellished with a floral lace overlay that is covered in sequins. The sheath style is so figure flattering! The bows at the shoulder are a really cool design where they are really all one piece that has been gathered and sewn to look like individual bows. That section is sewn to a narrow shoulder strap. It can be worn on the shoulder or off the shoulder. The dress is lined with a lilac color heavy acetate faille fabric.
The bodice is boned to give it structure. There is a 19" slit up the center back from the hem. There is a 14" nylon zipper in the center back. It looks like there was perhaps a built-in bra at one time, but there is evidence that it was removed. There are little holes in the lining where the stitches were and there is a small tear where the fabric was snipped by accident. If you wear a strapless bra it will replace the built-in one. If you don't want to wear a bra the fabric is thick enough that it would not be necessary for modesty.
This is a Mike Benet dress, well known for style and quality. The size label is a 10. It is in very good condition. The only flaws are the areas in the lining of the bodice where the bra was removed and some lighter discoloration of the lining near the arms. I have pictured it.
