This vintage cornflower blue sweater was made in the 1980s by the British brand Jaeger, of 100% Sea Island Cotton — it is incredibly soft, and feels more like a blend of merino wool and silk. Sea Island Cotton has been grown in the Caribbean since the 15th century and was discovered by the British in the West Indies in the 18th Century, but it is exceedingly rare, making up only .0004% of the cotton currently produced in the world each year. The fibers are extra-long, which allows them to be woven at the highest yarn count, resulting in the softest knit imaginable. Thus, this sweater is SO soft, lightweight, and wearable! Since it's not too heavy, it's actually possible to tuck it into skirts and pants without excess bulk — the tapered ribbing at the hem (and cuffs) helps too! The fit can be a bit oversized thanks to the dropped sleeves, and it can fit a variety of sizes depending on the desired fit. Made in Great Britain.
