A wonderfully sparkly ring in a great wearable size! The design lets in lots of light with two tones of gold and a raised setting. In excellent vintage condition.
An oval cut pink sapphire is surrounded by a halo of melee size diamonds in white gold, then circled again by 12 round-cut pink sapphires.
The band is 14K yellow gold and done in a slightly reverse-taper style, meaning it's wider at back than it is near the gemstones--which is a subtle way of pointing to the sparkly bits and letting them be the stars that they are. The setting lifts the sparkles off your finger and lets light into the bottom for even more brilliance. The diamonds are accented by white gold grooves that look like rays between them--which guides even more light their way.
Measurements
ring size: 8.25
ring face, north-south: 5/8 inch
ring face, east-west: 3/8 inch
rise off your finger: almost 3/8 inch
length of center stone: 4 mm
approximate size of outer stones: almost 2 mm each
width of band at back: 2 mm (approx)
total weight: 3 grams
Note: The band is also stamped 10K, which seems to refer to the white gold used around the diamonds and on the underside of the setting, as shown in photos. It is impossible to get in there and test the content, but the yellow gold has been tested by me and a professional, and it comes out at 14K.
Also stamped A.B.I., as shown.
From a nonsmoking, pet-loving environment (where the cats do not wear the jewelry).
