This striking black and burgundy dress from Geoffrey Beene is a classic shift style with an unambiguous "mod" design. It has a jewel (or crew) neckline, long raglan sleeves, and a back zipper. The fabric is a wool or wool blend .knit (no fabric label is present). Based on the union label, it can be definitively dated to be tween 1985 and 1995. Labeled US size 12.
