SWEE LO evening gown. Circa 1980s. Made in India.
Madame Swee Lo (Swee Lo O'Reilly) is an American designer who made the wardrobe for Mrs. Lovey Howell during the third season of TV show Gilligan's Island. Swee Lo evening wear is typically heavily beaded and embellished.
Slender column or pencil style with long sleeves (no shoulder pads), crew neck with back zipper/snap/hook and eye closure, and a high walking slit in the back skirt. Body fully lined with sheer sleeves.
Body is 100% lightweight black silk that is heavily embellished with bugle beads, pearls and multicolor sequins in swirls and paisleys. Poly rayon blend lining. Professional spot clean only.
CONDITION: There was a row of pearls missing on the front neckline (you can see it if you look closely on the mannequin photos.) I couldn't find perfect matches, so all the neckline pearls have been replaced with new ones. Remainder of embellishment in very good shape with a very few missing here and there. All reflected in lower price. Smoke free home.
No size tag. Photographed without pinning on a size 8 dress form.
