This navy blue and white polka dot 1980s dress is so very Princess Diana style, just add a hat, gloves, and pearls for a totally 80s royal look! The short, puffed sleeves have large shoulder pads. The round neckline, sleeve hems, and decorative front button placket are all trimmed with contrasting fabric in navy dots on white, while the main fabric of the dress is white on navy dots. The front bodice of the dress is fitted with princess seaming (how appropriate!), to the slightly dropped waist seam, at about the high hip. Below, 2 inverted pleats give the skirt a tulip shape. In back, the bodice has the same princess seaming, but the skirt has 4 regular pleats below the horizontal waist seam, adding a bit more fullness to the hip. The navy dress fabric is medium-weight, slightly stiff fabric with a horizontal ribbed weave, probably a cotton and acetate blend poplin. The white dotted trim has a diagonal weave, and slightly finer texture. The dress fastens in back with a plastic zipper; the front buttons are decorative only. It is lined with acetate taffeta, in the skirt section only. In very good condition, the dress has some fading to this taffeta lining (now more purple than navy blue), and some discoloration to the underside of the white sleeve trim. Neither issue will be seen when the dress is worn, since they are both on the inside. This polka dotted 80s dress is cute style in a classic color combo!
