This is a 1980s/1990s two-piece skirt suit by Castleberry, a prominent line of expensive knits done in a similar style to St. John. The skirt is black velvet with an elastic waistband, and is fully lined. The jacket is a festive red, green, and black knit with faux chest and hip pockets with gold buttons. It is trimmed in black velvet, and has a single hook closure at the top. This suit was union made by the ILWGU in the USA. The suit is in excellent condition, with no flaws that I could find. Marked size 10; the following approximate flat lay measurements indicate that it could fit a Large. Please compare to a garment that fits you well to ensure proper fit.
