The most amazing vintage 1980's, collectible and rare Traje de Tehuana matching skirt and top. I believe this set has never been formally worn because the arm holes were very small, but I have opened them up. The head hole will also most likely need to be altered, as it is very small. Colorful, detailed hand embroidery. Velvet outer fabric and lined with cotton polka dot fabric. The skirt ties at the waist and has stiffly starched, pleated lace at the bottom. It can be removed and washed and then sewn back on. This dress was made to be altered as needed to fit the wearer. This style of costume is worn at important events today in Tehuantepec/Juchitan. Now, the embroidery is more often done with machine. This set would have taken months to create.

Very good vintage condition. Some faint spots on the bottom lace. The hole for the head will also need to be altered, it is only 20 inches.
