Label: Yolanda Sequined trim V-neck line mini dress. Gold abstract shape print. Fully lined. Back zipper. Slightly sheer metallic jacket has oversized dramatic puffy sleeves. Rhinestone belt buckle. Jacket fabric is crisp and firm, maintaining shape nicely especially the puffiness of the sleeves.
This outfit was made for the Yolanda Designer Collection, many pieces of which are now in the Boston Museum of Fine Art collection.
Yolanda's fashion designs have also been on exhibit at the Waltham museum.***
I contacted the business which still operates online and Yolanda herself responded that as far as she remembers, this outfit was designed by Victor Costa for her early 80s collection.
Boston fashion icon Yolanda Cellucci opened her first store in Belmont in 1968, with only seven dresses and a handful of wigs. She then opened Yolanda's, her eponymous Waverley Oaks Road shop in Waltham in 1973 and turned it into an iconic couture boutique.
