Snazzy, jazzy, glitzy, glam -however you say it, this jacket has it!!
From the late 1980's to early 90's, when all you had to do to look fancy, was throw on a beaded piece and you were ready. This example, from lesser-known label Jakelin Designs (not as ubiquitous as Laurence Kazar, say) features a fully beaded exterior with a variety of patterns. The edges, including collar and cuffs, are trimmed in a design of lengthy gold bugle beads. The main jacket body features bands with scallop & line pattern, an echoing zig-zag & line pattern, a pure seed bead black and white zig-zag pattern, and -my favorite!- an undulating snake-like pattern with black and white stripes, with the ground peppered in cut white bugle beads. Yeah, a lot going on here! The jacket is fully beaded all the way around, and has an acetate or rayon lining in black. The only closure is a small black metal hook & eye at neckline. Label reads simply 'Jakelin Designs, by Meher International, Inc.'. Overall condition is excellent to like new with one small area at back left sleeve with some missing beading (not very noticeable and has been reinforced) and no signs of wear. Please review photographs for full details.
