A gorgeous, wide-brimmed fedora in deepest black fur felt with a tall, indented crown, this circa 1970s hat by milliner Patricia Underwood is both subtle and dramatic! The wide, down-curving, unwired brim will frame the face in mysterious shadow, and can be adjusted as desired. The tall crown will sit jauntily high on the head, as shown; it will not pull down low like cloche unless you have an unusually small head size. Matching fur felt appliqués create the multi-layered hatband. This elegant Patricia Underwood vintage hat is unlined, and in excellent condition.
Underwood began her millinery career at “Hats by Lipp” in the early 70s, before starting her own company in 1976. Her lovely creations got her the attention of both fashion designers (who used her hats on their runways) and magazine editors (who featured her hats in their editorial pages). She continues to produce hats by special commission, today.
