J G Hook
70s True Preppy Pink Wool Midi Pleated Skirt Suit 10/14 by J G Hook

Lovely pale pink wool 2-piece skirt suit by preppy bastion J. G. Hook! Mid-weight pale pink marled 100% wool suit features a single-breasted blazer with notch lapels and 4-button front closure. Three-button cuffs. Internal padded shoulders. Faux chest pocket. The matching pleated A-line midi skirt has such gorgeous lines. Large box pleats at waist. Impeccably tailored. Both blazer and skirt are fully lined in blush pink polyester. A fabulous outfit for and a wonderful addition to your vintage clothing collection.

This skirt suit is heirloom quality. And has true preppy roots---J. G. Hook was founded in 1974 by Max Louis Raab, who wanted to bring back the Ivy Style/preppy look of the 1950s. Raab could well be credited with laying the groundwork for Ralph Lauren's 1980s drive to update and popularize WASP clothing. Raab was most definitely successful here--in 1980 the New York Times described him as “The Dean of the Prep Look,” and claimed that he was responsible for “supplying American women with as many blazers and button-down Oxford-cloth shirts as they could wear with the Fair Isle sweaters and Bass Weejun loafers.”

Note--the blazer is a size 14 and the skirt is a size 10. Please check my measurements closely. Like new!
