Early 1970s Morton Myles party dress. Bodice fabric is a gold and black sparkle lame and the skirt is a gold and black floral jacquard. Skirt is lined with a black acetate while the bodice is lined with a lightweight nylon blend.
Bodice has dolman style long sleeves with a high fold over turtle neck. Shoulders are padded which can be removed.
Skirt is full with side seam pockets on both hips.
Excellent condition with only the missing belt.
Label is Morton Myles which was active between 1965 and cancelled in 2005. Interesting note: Morton Myles worked with Herbert Sondheim and Larry Aldrich before starting his own business in the early 1960s. He gained almost-instant celebrity in 1961, when Jacqueline Kennedy appeared on the cover of Look magazine in his blue sleeveless linen dress, for a family photo with President Kennedy, Caroline, and newborn John-John. Mrs. Kennedy had purchased several of his designs while her husband was still a senator. Info courtesy of the Vintage Fashion Guild Label Resource. Store label is Saks Fifth Avenue.
