A timeless Burke Amey evening gown, likely made in the early 70s. Made from gold silk, the bodice features an abstract floral pattern with embroidered metallic thread and bishop sleeves that fasten with silk covered buttons. The attached skirt is made of a bold swirling brocade tapestry. Fully-lined in golden silk, it fastens in back with a zipper and hook/eye closures. This fabulous piece also features sequins and bead detailing at the collar, cuffs and on the attached diamond-shaped belt. Please see our last image, from Harpers Bazaar 1969, where they described Amey's designs as "an out and out fantasy" with Victorian and India inspired design elements (last image).
Preowned/vintage with some signs of use/wear: some skinny line pulls to the bodice, hard to see unless very closely inspecting.
No size tag, estimated as a modern size S: shoulders - 16in, bust - 36in, waist -26in hips - full, waist to hem - 41in, shoulder to hem - 55.5in. Tagged Burke Amey.
