Late 1960s or early 1970s floral print sheath dress by the "master printer" Alfred Shaheen, a prolific designer and manufacturer based in Hawaii, who helped popularize the Hawaiian shirt in the 40s and beyond. He created his own screen printed textiles (such as this one) and brought Hawaiian, South Pacific and Asian styles to mainstream fashion.
This sleeveless sheath dress has a surplice V neck and an empire waist. Fitted with contour seams on the torso, this pencil dress has a hem at around knee length (depending on your height) and a 9" slit in back. 21" zipper and hook and eye in back too. The fabric is a sheer yellow polyester nylon blend that looks like shantung silk, layered over a yellow polyester lining. The fabulous print depicts curly petal Japanese chrysanthemums in shades of bright yellow, green and orange. Mod sunshine dress, goes perfect with white go go boots, lovely as a summer cocktail dress too!
