Georgio Sant Angelo
70s Shiny Paneled Spandex Maxi Dress Colorblock$625.00
70’s Giorgio di Sant Angelo Shiny Paneled Maxi Dress Color Block
Star trek chic? Space age babe? Other worldy beauty? Disco club goddess? All of the above. A stunning example of the classic work by Giorgio di Sant Angelo, also known simply as Sant Angelo. The great creator of clothing in shiny spandex jersey, bright colors, and jaw dropping silhouettes. This is a more neutral example of his work, but makes just as much of an impact in its simplicity. After researching this piece, I believe it to be from the fall/winter 1970-71 collection by comparing similar examples featured in museum collections. There is always some ambiguity to dating these pieces, so it could have been released at various times in the 70's, but this is my best educated guess!
This gown has never been worn, but has a couple imperfections. The original collar stay was inside the collar but left discoloration from the age of the residue. Also a small discoloration on the back near the hem and left shoulder. Presents really beautifully and doesn’t take away from this exciting piece. The main body of the piece is a silvery white color with more bright silver accents and a tan/yellow/green panel that changes its color in different light thus the many visuals of the color. A true piece of fashion history!
