1970s dress set by GEOFFREY BEENE.
Blouse / top and skirt set.
Cotton and silk bohemian folk prairie ensemble.
Geoffrey Beene was known for his unusual designs. He made the concept of casual dressing in his evening wear looks main stream. This ensemble came from a time when YSL was making his Russian collection and other designers were embracing the folk look and coordinating patterns.
The fabric in this ensemble consists of a very fine pima cotton, and silk.
Accents of see through lace and silver metallic trim.
There are two separate pieces which can used beautifully on their own.
They include the blouse / top in a very fine checked cotton. Front bib yoke in a hashtag print silk with pretty glass button.
Puffed long sleeves end in an elastic wrist.
The skirt is cut in a full gathered waist with set on waist band and hook closure. Alternating tiers of silk and lace.
Long purple check obi sash to adorn the waist.
Lovely separate or together.
Excellent condition - there is some discoloration here or there from what looks like light improper storage where light may have hit it. Not really noticeable since there is so much going on in the ensemble. See last pic.
