This feminine black silk dress with a lavender, red and green floral pattern is from notable American designer Holly Harp. It has a V neckline in front and back with 5 ruffles draping horizontally around the circumference of the dress from shoulders to the hem. It slips on over the head without additional buttons or zipper. No fabric label is present, but the floral tiers look and feel like silk chiffon. The black dress to which the tiers are attached also looks and feels like silk with a little something added for stretch. The dress dates to the 1970s or 1980s - I've seen both dates attributed to this Holly Harp style when researching it. No size label is present, but based on the measurements, sizing charts indicate it is in the modern size 8/10 or M/L range.* This dress is slightly stretchy. (Note: There is an identical dress in a different print on 1st Dibs for $845 and another with long sleeves for $1285.)
MEASUREMENTS
- Chest is 38”
- Waist is about 35”
- Hips measure about 42”
- Length is about 39” from top of shoulder to bottom.
CONDITION
Excellent condition with no apparent flaws. Someone has wisely hand sewn a tuck at the bottom of the inner dress to shorten it a couple of inches, probably because it was showing a little bit from underneath the bottom tier of chiffon.
