Absolutely stunning lightweight pleated gold lame dress that is very similar to the one Marilyn Monroe wore that was designed by William Travilla and worn in Gentleman Prefer Blondes.

I am fairly certain this is a late 70’s to early 80’s reproduction that was done by Travilla to be sold in stores. Someone who worked closely with the Travilla Estate for years reached out and confirmed that this is in fact a genuine Travilla dress from the 70s-80s.
**Unfortunately, my dress is missing the designers tag so I cannot prove that it is.**

I actually have another Travilla dress from the same time period and have compared the size of the designer tag to a spot inside my dress where it looks like there are four little holes where a tag was and it’s the exact same size (see circled photo where I include the dress I have with tags to the inside of my gold dress).

I have also compared the size/care tag in my dress with several others online and can only find this exact combo in Travilla dresses from this time period.

Labeled a size 4 and I can barely zip it all the way on my size small mannequin so it’s probably best for a XS.

There are some pulls in the gold lame due to age and how fragile it is. most notably there are a few on the bust and one on the side (see close ups). There are also a few other spots of minor wear on the straps and near the top of where the zipper pull is.

There is a little bit of extra lame fabric along the inside seam between the gold outer shell and the lining where you could pull some strings of lame to attempt to repair the pulls in the bust but I thought that would be best left to a professional seamstress.
