Alfred Shaheen
70’s Pearl Gray Butterfly Print Sheer Sleeve Maxi Dress$114.00
Whimsical 70s butterfly print maxi dress by Alfred Shaheen, the "master printer". Alfred Shaheen was a prolific designer and manufacturer based in Hawaii, who helped popularize the Hawaiian shirt in the 40s and beyond. He created his own screen printed textiles (such as this one) and brought Hawaiian, South Pacific and Asian styles to mainstream fashion.
This lovely dress is made from a pearl gray middle weight polyester knit fabric, screen printed with butterflies in shades of purple, black, white, cranberry and dark gray. There is a "Shaheen" signature near the hem. Bodice is lined, has a V neck and attaches to a 2" wide waistband. There are waist darts above and below this band for shaping. Sheer gray chiffon long puffed sleeves gather into lined cuffs with self covered buttons. Skirt slopes gently out to full length hem. 23. 5" zipper and hook and eye closure in back. There are a few pulls that I've repaired, but you can see faint lines as in the last photo of two of them on the skirt. Enjoy early 70s vibes in this designer dream dress by Alfred Shaheen.
