Barry Kieselstein-Cord introduced his status belt buckles in the late 1970's and they had an immediate cult following. I haven't had a lot of opportunity to come across Kieselstein-Cord pieces in the wild, but a huge thanks to where I live I was able to find not only this gorgeous snake buckle, but the removable alligator belt that goes with it! This is one of his iconic Snake buckles, made from solid sterling silver with an 18K gold vermeil plating, paired with a 1" tan colored genuine alligator strap. As a jeweler for many years, Kieselstein-Cord pieces really speak to me; they are so beautifully made-- heavy, detailed, cheeky-- and are unabashedly luxe. When you know his work, you know it; it doesn't need a logo to make its' presence, and I like that.~MEASUREMENTS:Buckle: 3 3/4"L x 2 1/8"W x 1 3/8"D93 gramsStrap:1"W33"-36" Wearable length~FEATURES:Buckle:Sterling silver (93g) with gold vermeilBall end prong clasp Stamped B Kieselstein-Cord 1993 USAStrap:Tan alligatorDouble snap closureTwo loops5 holes~CONDITION:Excellent vintage condition. There is no plating loss, scratches, or dents in the buckle. The strap is in excellent shape as well, no holes are stretched. There is a split at the shortest hole along the hide crease that came to me that way, it is shown in a closeup pic. I have gone ahead and conditioned the leather using a specialty conditioner that is made for exotic leathers, and gave the belt buckle a gentle buffing. Whatever you do, wear it and enjoy it... this is a fabulous piece of American jewelry history! For reference sake, dress form measurements:5'7" Height14" Shoulders37" Bust27" Waist36" Hips
