70s Day Dress Op Art Geometric Print Drop Waist$40.00
DETAILS: What a great vintage day dress! Some 1970s fashion looks dated - Brady Bunch wear. This is more classic - and classy - while still being unique and eye catching. The geometric elements of the print create an Op Art effect to my eye/
The drop-waist bodice is fitted with princess seaming in front. The skirt is box pleated, with plenty of room to move easily. The upper collar and the skirt are done in the larger scale print, with the print artfully placed on the collar for maximum impact.
SIZE: No size label
Bust - 39" (99 cm)
Shoulders - 15. 25" (38. 75 cm)
Dropped waist - 36" (91. 5 cm)
Hips - 36" (91. 5 cm)
Bodice length from center back neckline - 23" (58. 5 cm)
Skirt length: 17. 5" (44. 5 cm)
Sweep: 94" (238 cm)
FABRIC/COLORS: The dress uses two different coordinating prints in the same colorway - red and creamy white, with black as accent. The smaller print is a floral inspired but geometric, and the larger print is full-on geometric, using patterns of rectangles, squares, and diamonds. The fabric is a knit jersey, similar to disco shirt fabric. Based on a fiber burn test, it is synthetic, probably acetate.
TAGS: No tags at all - this may have been custom sewn, at a good skill level.
CLOSURES: The dress closes with five brass-tone domed shank buttons down the front.
CONDITION: On close inspection, I found a pinhole in the front skirt - see closeup, and another in the right front bodice just above the waist.. There are a few small dirt stains along the lower hem.
