Lovely sailboat brooch signed by Joy, Little Creations on Rubylane is a collector of Joy brooches and has some very unique ones and lots more information about these lovely brooches. Perfect for a heavier garment such as a coat or jacket.

Handcrafted metalwork in base metal with gold plating, the enamelling is Plique-à-jour (French for "letting in daylight") is a vitreous enamelling technique where the enamel is applied in cells, similar to cloisonné, but with no backing in the final product, so light can shine through the transparent or translucent enamel. Therefore, if the sailboat is held to the light the light can shine through, very pretty. Pin runs vertical.

Excellent condition, some wear to gold plating (see photos) although, the photos taken under strong light shows much more of a contrast on the plating than actually can be seen with the naked eye. The photos of the boat in the box and on the white cloth were taken outdoors under more natural lighting.
