70’s/80’s Colorful Handmade Burmese Kalaga Vest

Instantly make any outfit pop by adding this handmade, funky and colorful embroidered textile art Burmese Kalaga vest! The exterior fabric on the vest is a jet black velvet and is completely adorned with a combination of metallic and plain threads, sequins, and beads to create a dynamic and bold geometric design. This traditional art form emerged during the Konbaung dynasty in the mid-19th century and reached its zenith during the reign of Mindon Min, when velvet became fashionable at the royal court. The interior is lined with a lightweight black cotton. The silhouette is relaxed and boxy with no front closure and low cut arm holes...a great layering piece! It has it's original tags inside which note that the fit is "free size"
