60s Silvertone Choker,circa 1950,egyptian Collar Style$45.00
This necklace has a nice weight and feel to it. The hinges are in between each multiple link and allow the metal bars to slink together. It is an Egyptian collar style and is a larger choker length measuring 18 inches. The thickness measures 1 inch. The links are cast, not stamped, giving it a machine part vibe. The tiny individual links have a stamped divet throughout.
This metal necklace is circa 1950 and made by a high end costume jewelry maker of the time. The first half of the 20th century was the heyday for well made costume jewelry sold from fine department stores to Woolworth, usually made in Europe or the United States. The manufacture and quality of costume jewelry deteriorated in the latter part of the century making this era the last with enduring products.
There are no marks or manufacturer name on this piece.
NecromanceNola sells this type of vintage necklace often since it was well made, usually plated multiple times and had unique design. The silver tone plating is still in good condition. The chain links are a unique shape and have a nice weight to them. The fold over box clasp is original to the necklace. These metal chokers pair well with our longer vintage chain jewelry.
