This Brutalist style pendant is large and gaudy. The chain and pendant are a silver tone. The light weight cable chain measures 23 inches long and closes with its original spring clasp. The open work, cast pendant has a striated texture ram horn pattern and measures 3. 5 inches. The pendant is in two pieces, the 2 inch bottom part swivels from the 1 inch top part.
There is a makers mark on the back of the pendant : MCI. I found the matching earrings that were stamped," Monet".
NecromanceNola sells this type of vintage necklace often since it was well made, usually plated multiple times and had unique design. The silver tone plating is still in excellent condition.
This metal necklace is circa 1965 and made by a high end costume jewelry maker of the time. The first half of the 20th century was the heyday for well made costume jewelry sold from fine department stores to Woolworth, usually made in Europe or the United States. The manufacture and quality of costume jewelry deteriorated in the latter part of the century making this era the last with enduring products.
