This 60s set is just insane, a Wow factor that is just jaw-dropping! The set is made up of two pieces a split-styled cape and an ankle-length wiggle dress both made of silk satin.

The dress is simple and elegant with a wide scoop neck that scoops down in the back as well. The bust of the dress is decorated in gold and silver embroidery with scattered handset rhinestones and clear beads set around the ends of the embroidery. The dress is fitted to the body and hugs your curves. The dress tapers down to the ankles with a fantastic kick pleat in the back to allow for movement. The dress is definitely in the lines with the hobble dresses. The dress has a zipper up the back with a little pearl bead tassel that hangs over the zipper on a little strap that snaps to the back and creates a little v above the zipper.

The cape is what tops this set off as the most dramatic and glamorous 60s set. The cape is styled like a cacoon cape with the top yoke being densely gathered and ruched. It reminds me so much of the opera coats and capes of the 20s and 30s. On top of the ruching, the yoke is covered in little pearl beads that dangle from the rushing. This detail is repeated on the hem of the cape with both panels having the ruching on the hem that is also covered in pearl bead dangles. The cape is made of matching cream silk as the dress. The cape is split like a wing and hangs draping over the shoulders and hangs down over the arms. The panels are structured with cream tulle that lines the inside of them. The front closure is a little fabric strap that snaps on the opposite side. The cape has a beautiful pearl brooch that matches the pearl dangles on the yoke and hem. The cape also attaches to the dress with large snaps that are hidden and attached to the underside shoulders of the dress and the underside shoulders of the cape.

Condition:

This set is in wonderful condition with only a few minor marks of the fabric. There are a few little scuffs on the waist of the dress. There are also some marks on the hem on the inside from where it dragged on the ground or was stepped on. These minor flaws are hard to find. This dress is in fantastic condition and it has been professionally laundered and is ready to drop jaws wherever you go in it.

Sizing

This dress was handmade. I believe it was custom made by a seamstress for the original owner. The great thing about this is that there is seam allowance out the wazoo on this dress so it can be let out by a seamstress. It also can be taken in if needed. As of right now, the sizing would have fit the original owner perfectly. That being said, it has room in the hips, it could be big in the hips for someone that fit the rest of the measurements.
