Giorgio Armani is showing small black hats in his fall collection, so I thought now is a good time to list this lovely black velvet slouch beret. I found a lot of MR. hats, mostly Mr. John, but not as many Mr. D. There is a lovely fascinator online for $135, and just a few other, so it may be a rarer label. I like this hat, because it is so versatile. It reminds me of the BIBA girls from the 60's who were trying to look art deco in their reproduction 1920's outfits. I thought there were ribbons radiating from the raised dome on the top, but it turns out what you see are just the gathered velvet cloth, where the velvet separates. There are 2 tortoise shell ( fake) plastic hair grips, attached on each side. No flaws, other than occasionally a bit of straw drifts out of the top, and I just found where the lining needs a few stitches so that will be fixed. One side of the hat is 3" high, and it tapers down to a flatter side. Hat measures 8" across. Inside measurement is 20", but with the hair grips, I am not sure it is relevant. There is some minor wear along the inner velvet lip, but no wear on the body of the hat, itself.
