60's Forest Green Floppy Brim Hat

Deep indented crown with a gathered wide brim with wired edging. Fabric is a soft forest green felt with lighter green top-stitched leaf designs. Hat band is a narrow matching fabric that creates a back bow. Interior is finished with a rose pink twill and the standard petersham ribbon.

There are condition issues. On the right side brim near the edge there is moth damage with a noticeable hole through the fabric. The brim does curl under and is flexible so that area could be turned underneath. Also there is some staining on the petersham ribbon. I have photographed these areas closely and my pricing reflects this damage.

Inner circumference is 21 1/2 inches. Crown rises 4 inches and brim is 4 inches but is adjustable.

Label is Dachettes, Designed by Lilly Dache. The following information is provided courtesy of the Vintage Fashion Guild Label Resource. Lilly Daché got her start in the millinery business by working in a small shop in New York City in 1924. By the 1930s she was also producing handbags and other accessories. Her business had grown to the point that she needed two buildings in which to house her operation. Besides designing for the public, Daché worked with Hollywood designer Travis Banton, producing hats to complement his dresses and suits for the movies. Lilly Daché retired in 1968. Her last customer was actress Loretta Young, who bought 30 hats – the last hats in the shop.
