This is a large statement ring. The cabochon cut carnelian measures 3/8 inch and is surrounded by a detailed open work antiqued brass filigree dome. The 1 inch domed setting also has four cloisonne petal designs set into it, matching the carnelian color. The shank also has a small detailed filigree pattern meeting the ring's setting. It is now a size 5, but can be adjusted up to a size 7 without losing the integrity of the ring. The prongs holding the stone in seem to be strong and secure.

This ring is circa 1960 in the hippy/boho style and made by a high end costume jewelry maker of the time. The first half of the 20th century was the heyday for well made costume jewelry sold from fine department stores to Woolworth, usually made in Europe or the United States. The manufacture and quality of costume jewelry deteriorated in the latter part of the century making this era the last with enduring products.
