Tony Krupa
60s Italian Designer Tony Krupa Deep Red Velvet Column Cocktail Party Dress$45.00
DESCRIPTION: From a rare label and made in Italy. Its designer, Tony Krupa, graduated from the Parsons School of Design in New York and worked with renowned French designer Jacques Fath. He went on to become vice president and director of design for I. Appel Corp., which owns brands such as Pierre Cardin Lingerie, Formfit New York (Rogers Formfit), and Myonne. His own work is extremely hard to find.
Made of soft cotton velvet, dress is a simple column style, featuring scalloped V-shaped trim that works with the angled bust darts. A sexy walking slit in front finishes the look. Beautifully made, with all inside fabric edges finished off, even the trim allowance on the darts, to prevent the raveled edges cotton is prone to. Back metal zipper. Please note that reds are very difficult to reproduce accurately in photos; dress is a bit more scarlet than shows on my monitor, and we've also lightened a couple of shots to show detail.
CONDITION: Very good. Has been professionally dry cleaned. There's a spot on the bodice where my cleaner tried lifting a stain and lifted a bit of color with it. Very faint, yet noticeable, but it wouldn't photograph. I've placed a brooch there as a decorative accent (I've misplaced that brooch, but will include something suitable); you can wear this or another brooch, or a pendant necklace.
SIZE: Labeled 12; we estimate it at about a 6 to 8. But don't go by the label or my estimate--use the measurements. We suggest you measure a similar garment you own to determine fit. Not a stretch fabric, so leave room for your body....
* Bust: 38 1/2" (best for a B or C cup); * Waist: 36"; * Hip: 38 1/2"; Length: 51 1/4" down center back
* Measured flat on outside and doubled unless otherwise stated.
