60s Couture 100% Silk Cheongsam Standing Collar Top$168.00
This Cheongsam style top is so chic! It was custom made by a local Californian designer in the late 1960’s for a runway fashion collection. It was crafted from 100% silk fabrication with a pale gray and blue watercolor-style floral pattern. It’s silhouette is fitted and flattering with subtle slits at the side seam hem for comfort and movement. It is lightweight and luxurious to touch with a classic neckline of a mandarin collar with structured inserts and button closure at the chest. There are also hidden snaps down the side seam. It’s close-fitting, tailored silhouette that stays true to traditional Chinese cheongsam design. Team it with a dainty clutch and platforms for an opulent evening look or wear it on a casual brunch with the girls. History:The cheongsam, also known as a qipao, is a close-fitting dress that originated in 1920s Shanghai. It quickly became a fashion phenomenon that was adopted by movie stars and schoolgirls alike. The history of this iconic garment reflects the rise of the modern Chinese woman in the twentieth century dating back to the overthrowing of the Qing dynasty when Chinese intellectuals began to revolt against traditional values, calling instead for a democratic and egalitarian society based on Western standards, including the emancipation and education of women.Condition:Great vintage condition with no damage to note.Measurements:Bust - 14"Waist - 12 1/2"Hips - 18"Total length - 25"
