Incredibly rare & uniquely gorgeous vintage Bonnie Cashin for Sills coat with exaggerated trailing sleeves, likely made in the late 60s. Supple mohair and wool boucle knit, the oversized houndstooth pattern features several shades of brown, green & black. Trimmed in black leather piping, with Bonnie's signature half moon pockets at each hip and is unlined. Documented in Dr. Stephanie Lake's monograph, Bonnie Cashin: Chic Is Where You Find It (photos on page 177 and on back cover), Bonnie's pieces were sewn "...almost entirely by hand and usually by one person start to finish...". Indeed, this is truly a one-of-a-kind piece. No fasteners, one can simply wear as-is, use as a layering piece or style with a favorite belt or Obi sash, as we've shown in some of our images (belt shown is not included). Leather/dry clean only. No size tag, but we're estimating this as a modern M/L. Measurements (approximate, taken flat and doubled where appropriate): shoulders - 16in, bust - 40in, waist - 33in, hips - 43in, shoulder to hem - 46in, sleeves - 25in. Preowned/vintage with minimal signs of prior use and wear, this coat appears as if it was never worn (something we rarely say about vintage items!). Tagged "SILLS: A Bonnie Cashin Design".
