This vintage cardigan sweater dates to the late 1950s or early 1960s. It is a fascinating blend of practical and subversively exotic. Every woman can use a little black cardigan sweater. But who's to say how your persona might be affected by the subtle swing of fringe and the sparkle of rows of aurora borealis rhinestones? The possibilities are endless.
SIZE: No size label. Measurements taken without stretching - sizing depends on how tight you prefer to wear it.
Bust - 36" (91. 5 cm)
Shoulders - 16" (40. 5 cm)
Length - 20" (51 cm)
Sleeve length - 20" (51 cm)
FABRIC/COLORS: The label proudly proclaims this as "100% Turbo Orlon". The silky fringe is attached to corded braid, which is in turn attached to narrow velveteen ribbon. Iridescent rhinestones anchor every other fringe knot.
TAGS: Berjac Sportswear Inc.
CLOSURES: Eight small black plastic shank buttons down the front.
CONDITION: Some pilling. I don't see any stains, holes, or tears. I do want to mention that the hem and cuffs are turned up inside and stitched down, which leads me to question whether the trim is original to the sweater or whether it might have been added by a previous owner.
