Fur jacket from Donald Brooks - known for creating the "American Look" in the Fifties and Sixties along with deisgners such as Bill Blass and Geoffrey Beene - is an unusual blend of beige and ivory colors. We've researched the fur, but haven't found anything with a similar mottled appearance except a sheared broadtail, which this is clearly not. We also can't verify the year the jacket was made, except that we have found jackets of identical design (not fur) elsewhere on 1st Dibs that were attributed to the 1960s, which is when Donald Brooks was most active. This coat has a wide Peter Pan collar, four patch pockets, and has buttons for closure. There are also small slits in the side seams so you can add a belt if you want to change up the look. Previous owner's name is embroidered on taupe-colored lining. No size label, but we are estimating it to be a modern size 6 or 8, allowing for a little extra roominess that coats need to have. Please refer to the measurements for additional guidance regarding size.
MEASUREMENTS
- Shoulder width is 18"
- Chest is 44" (measurement taken on the inside of the jacket)
- Sleeve length is 23"
- Length is 30" down center back excluding collar.
CONDITION
The fur is in good condition overall with a tiny balding spot on one pocket edge and one pocket corner. There are some loose stitches in the lining. The fur is not shedding, and there is still a lot of wear in this great vintage fur jacket.
