60's Black and Brown Fur Felt Brimmed Cloche Hat

Fabric is a fur felt, Made in West Germany.

Deep crown is a dark brown while the floppy brim is a flat black.

Hat band is a decorative triple stacked braid with a double grosgrain side streamer.

Interior is finished with the standard petersham ribbon.

Inner circumference is 21 inches. Measuring side to side but not including the 3 1/2 inch brim, it is approximately 17 inches.

Excellent condition with only some makeup staining on the inside ribbon.

Label is Jacques Heim, Paris with a store label of Lazarus of Roanoke VA. Jacques Heim started out in the family business designing furs. In 1923 he took over the business and within a few years had added a couture department. His couture house opened in the Avenue Matignon in Paris in 1930. He also made ready-to-wear. In 1946 Heim started his own chain of sportswear boutiques. Heim visited the United States in order to establish contracts with several US department stores for which he was to design collections. Another ready-to-wear line, Heim Actualité, was begun in 1950. The House of Heim closed in 1969, two years after the designer’s death.
