Tanner Of Nc
60s 70s Tanner Nc Garden Party Poppy Floral Print Pique Cotton Maxi Hostess Dress by Tanner Of Nc$225.00
Most beautiful smattering of colorful blooms on this 60’s70’s maxi: I’m not just in love with the print, but also the material that is so good: It’s a midweight textured wafflepique super breathable cotton—a nice cool relief from all the polyester!
Elongating side tuxedo stripe accent and Talon nylon zipper.
Fits like a Medium or generally true vintage size 14:
3839” chest;
16” shoulder seam to waist seam;
30” waist with 11/2” belt loops for a cord belt like mine (excluded) or a structured skinny belt;
4244” hip;
Aline skirt 44” long from waistband;
60” total length from shoulder seam.
Excellent condition, very faint spot by belt loop (last photo) I haven’t tried to wash off.
Fantastic graphical florals in technicolor to brighten up any room you walk into!

Googled info on label: TANNER OF NC
Tanner of North Carolina was founded in 1931 as the Doncaster Collar and Shirt Company. Its founders were S. B. Tanner, Jr., and his wife Millie of Rutherfordton, NC. In 1935 the company began direct sales to consumers, through the Junior League of Charlotte. The concept caught on, and the business grew nationwide, with Millie as designer, and S. B. (known as BoBo) as the business director.
During the 1950s, Doncaster fashions were sold through direct sales and a second label, Tanner of North Carolina which was started in 1954, was sold through department stores and specialty shops. Dorothy Cox was hired as the designer about 1954. Before that, she was with McMullen.
Tanner and Doncaster closed in 2018.
