Well, you don't see this every day ...

There is something richly gothic about this piece, as well as super-mod veering into the 1970s ... It's a deep purple (no magenta tones as in some of the photos), mostly unlined, with lots of gold lamé threading in an openwork brocade. Minnie the seamstress had quite a vision, and I must say she pulled it off! There are even little white rhinestones glued into many of the paisleys.

Oh, did I not mention paisleys? Yes, they are there. Mick Jagger would totally have strutted this stuff. Or Prince!

It's hard to name a style for this jacket. It's longer in back than in front and has almost a tuxedo-tail effect because the back is split. It has lapels, which are lined in dark purple. The neck is also lined, for softness; the lining feels like 100% silk, very soft and lovely.

Condition is vintage very good. Some of the rhinestones have come off, but you don't notice them because there's so much else going on. It was made from actual fabric, and seams show; that's part of the look, as are a few rough edges where the lamé brocade turned under. There is an area about 3 inches square at the bottom right front, where the previous owner seems to have brushed against something with a bit of bleach. the purple embroidered paisleys have bleached out a bit--see the last photo.

Closure in front is with two black snaps.
