60s/70s Modernist Brutalist Flat Smoky Quartz Meta-ring$125.00
I have never seen a ring like this before, and I probably never will again ... It is a marvelous example of mod / brutalist jewelry, with a slice of dark brown smoky quartz cut in a traditional "jeweler's diamond" shape--as if this jeweler was poking fun at the idea of fine jewelry and diamond cuts.
Look at it front ways and it's huge. Look sideways and it's thin. It is a conversation piece for sure.
And the setting!! Love all those ridges and MCM touches. They have a sort of Scandinavian feel to me.
The inside of the band is stamped "silver," as shown, but the setting is gold in color. It has a wonderful patina that I refuse to polish away myself, but the next caretaker may of course do so.

This ring really is an unusual marvel. Condition is vintage very good to excellent. As mentioned, there is a patina on the metal--which only makes it more beautiful in my eyes. I don't see any scratches on the dark brown stone, but something that's been around this long may well have some tiny abrasions under magnification. It's old! It's had a life!!
Antique ring box not included. In fact, this won't fit in most ring boxes because of the high rise.
From a nonsmoking, pet-loving household. The kitties don't wear much jewelry, but they might help me tape the package.
Thank you for looking!
