60s/70s Mod Hostess Maxi Dress With Sheer Black Sleeves$189.00
Love the classic look of this 1960s, possibly early 1970s, maxi dress that was referred to as a "hostess dress" in its day (the style of its union label was used from 1963-1974). The dress has a black bodice with a turtle neck and sheer sleeves. The skirt fabric is a colorful, abstract pattern in teal, blue, olive green, and brown. The skirt also has a self belt with a gold tone buckle. It is embellished at the hem with olive green fringe. (If you prefer to simplify the look, the fringe is merely tacked onto the dress by hand and can easily be removed; to me it's quite doubtful that the fringe is original to the dress.) Closure is with a back zipper. The fabrics look and feel like polyester with a little bit of a spongy texture that was typical of the era. The belt is marked size 12, but measurements indicate that it is closer to a modern size 8 or 10. Please refer to the measurements for the best guidance regarding actual size.*
