I believe that is the intention behind the many symbols or Japanese characters, that apparently translate to "old age" or "long life" (as per Google Translate). Nonetheless, it is a gorgeous scarf, in pure silk, and in a lovely, large size! The main portion of scarf is a deep eggplant purple color with these protective 'characters', and the side right border features cream flowers and smaller symbols, on an apple green ground color. Two of the edges are selvedge style, while the other two are machine stitch finished. Overall condition is absolutely mint, never used or worn, with paper label/tag still attached. Unfortunately, I was not able to get a clear translation for the paper label.
