This vintage shirtwaist dress is perfect for autumn - it would be great officewear and equally at home for more casual occasions. The bodice is fitted to the bust with horizontal and vertical darts - short sleeves can be cuffed. There is even some ease in back with soft pleating into the waist. The long placket turns the plaid to diagonal for extra visual interest. The skirt is fairly straight, with soft pleating into the waist in front and darts in back. There is a 7" kick pleat in the center back hem.

FABRIC/COLORS: Medium weight novelty woven plaid, using burnt orange, black, and a putty-ish shade of dark gray. I say "novelty" because of the extra texture and interest added by the narrow black grid, which is done in a thicker thread - see closeup.Even though it feels a bit like wool to the touch, based on a fiber burn test, I believe this is mostly cotton, with a bit of acrylic.

CLOSURES: The dress has a long placket that extends below the waist - it closes with nine small antiqued brass-look metal buttons plus a snap at the waist. There are belt loops but no belt. The dress is shown in some photos with a belt from my closet - it is not included with purchase.
CONDITION: No stains, holes, tears or other issues noted.
