60s Crown Trifari body chain in a vest style.

This 1960s Crown Trifari body chain is unique in so many ways. It is comprised of book chain links and coin medallions depicting Napoleon and Balboa. It is styled like a vest with a hook closure at front. Immensely wearable, chic and editorial, it is a solid piece weighing 1lb. The base is most likely steel as it very strongly sticks to a magnet. The gilt is in excellent condition, bright and shiny. There were two very small areas I detected that has loss of gilt. The back of the hook has the Crown Trifari mark.

It comes with a matching hanger with grooves to hold the chain in place. It is very ornate and hefty as well. There is a lion and sunburst medallion at the front, on close inspection one of the tips of the rays is missing. The back of the hanger is marked with a copyright sign and JA Pat Pending. A quick google did not turn anything up, but maybe this was made by another company as an accompaniment for the necklace.

As pictured on the mannequin, it is 21" at front from the highest point of the shoulder near the neck.
