This dress and matching opera coat look fit for a queen or first lady from the hand stitched detail to the architectual design to the hand beading, this has all the detail/hallmarks of a couture dress from the period. love the darts at the back of the neck! It zips in back with a metal zip and has a sort of "pouch" pocket under the pleat front, shown in pics. There is no label. Fabric is a silk with possibly a wool blend. it is very heavy. the lining feels like cotton. The fabric covered buttons are ornamental only; it is held closed with snaps. I have inspected this elegant outfit very carefully and it is near perfect. i found one area where a bead or two is dangling (see the close-up of the back of the dress) and there is a very faint line across the jacket on the right front that is really hard to see, even in bright sunlight.
